Is Your Bike Ready For Winter?
We offer winter storage for only $1.00 a day. If you have a battery tender, we will plug it in to keep your battery charged. If you have a cover bring that in too! If you spend $400 anywhere in the store while we store your bike; you're storage is FREE! Also, if you give us 24 hour notice we will make sure your bike is clean and battery charged so you can ride! Here are a few things to keep in mind for winterizing your motorcycle:
1. Give your bike a thorough cleaning. Getting the road grime off your paint and wheels will go a long way to protect the finish. Bug residue is very harmful to clear coat and to your windshield. Look for these little critters (or what's left of them).
2. Add a fuel stabilizer to the gas tank. Fill your tank with gas as full as it can go. This is very important. As fuel ages, more volatile components tend to change, leaving sludge and gummy substances that can affect the system. Run the bike so the gas and fuel stabilizer get to the carburetor or fuel injectors. Turn the fuel knob off.
3. Hooking your battery up to a "battery tender" will prolong the life and ensure that your bike is ready to go when weather permits. Clean the terminals prior to hook-up. Starting your bike and letting it run for a few minutes each month does more harm than good.
4. If it's getting close to time to change your oil, have it changed before you put it into storage. Old oil can develop acidic qualities, which can corrode engine parts.
5. Cover the bike. Dirt in the air can settle on it and damage the finish.
With these things in mind you should be able to store your bike all winter and be able to pull it out when the weather permits to get back on the road!
